Sam Eashum is a Landscape Designer whose work blends natural beauty, ecological awareness, and thoughtful outdoor living. Originally from Delaware, Sam studied Landscape Design and Horticulture at the University of Delaware before relocating to Northern Virginia. His approach is grounded in deep design experience and a hands-on industry background that began during his college years.

Sam’s passion for the field was shaped early by his family’s longstanding business, instilling a strong work ethic, perseverance, and a commitment to community. He began his professional career in the Brandywine Valley region of Pennsylvania and Northern Delaware, where proximity to Longwood Gardens influenced his appreciation for immersive, naturalistic landscapes and mindful ecological design. Throughout his career, his work has been recognized with multiple awards from the National Association of Landscape Professionals and the Landscape Contractor’s Association.

Sam’s design style leans toward lush, organic plantings with curved beds, layered textures, and an emphasis on native species. He enjoys incorporating subtle signature details, including pollinator-friendly plants and pops of color, while supporting healthy ecosystems through thoughtfully integrated habitats and food sources for wildlife, all without sacrificing a refined, client-aligned aesthetic.

Functionality forms the foundation of Sam’s designs, whether the goal is extending outdoor living space or enhancing planting beds for long-term impact. During the initial consultation, he prioritizes walking the property with clients to understand how they want to use the space, clarify priorities, and align on budget and scope. Collaboration and open feedback are central to his process, ensuring each design feels both personal and purposeful.

Sam particularly enjoys projects featuring natural stone patios and fire elements, as well as clients interested in native plantings and wildlife-friendly landscapes. He stays current by studying industry trends, visiting public gardens, collaborating with fellow designers, and drawing inspiration from client-sourced ideas on platforms like Houzz and Instagram. He is also working toward his LEED Green Associate certification.

What Sam enjoys most is watching a design evolve from concept to reality and seeing how a thoughtfully designed landscape transforms the way clients experience their homes and connect with the outdoors.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys exploring Virginia with his wife, relaxing at home with their cat and dog, cheering on the Miami Dolphins, and playing lacrosse in a local recreational league.
